Floodplain
A preliminary HEC-RAS floodway, optimized while you wait.
Upload your HEC-RAS 1D steady-flow project and pick the plan. Floodway Studio iteratively tightens the Method 1 encroachment stations to keep the water-surface rise within the FEMA 1.0 ft limit, and hands back a floodway plan ready for your review.

How it works
- Zip and upload the complete HEC-RAS project.
- Choose the plan and profiles to optimize.
- Download the floodway model and summary.
What goes in, what comes out
You provide
- HEC-RAS project archive .zip
Must contain a valid HEC-RAS project: .prj, at least one plan (.p##), the matching run file (.r##), the results HDF (.p##.hdf), and Method-1 encroachment data configured in the source plan. Max upload size 50 MB. - Profile names text
The exact profile labels for the 100-year flow and the floodway flow (e.g. '100 yr' and 'fw'). - Advanced parameters (optional) numbers
Max WS rise (ft), spline smooth factor, Savitzky–Golay window, tighten cycles, output plan number.
You get
- Optimized HEC-RAS model .zip (FloodwayModel.zip)
Your original project plus the newly written floodway plan: {Project}.p## (plan text) and {Project}.p##.hdf (results). Open it directly in HEC-RAS to review. - Floodway summary .csv (floodway_summary.csv)
One row per cross-section with river station, 100-yr water surface, floodway water surface, computed rise, left/right encroachment stations, floodway width, and a within-limit flag. - Plan-view plots .png
Quick-look plots of the floodway extents for visual QA.
